Right now, you're probably filled with all kinds of emotions. Pride. Concern. Delight. Anxiety. And that's understandable. After all, your child is considering joining the Coast Guard. And while we can't ease all your worries and concerns, we can let you know what we're all about, what your son or daughter will experience in the Coast Guard, and what the answers are to some of your questions.

One thing we will tell you right off the bat, you deserve to be proud of your child. In joining the Coast Guard, he or she will become part of our organization whose main concern is the safety of this country. We teach honor, respect and devotion to duty. Our Coast Guard men and women save lives, protect waters and guard our borders. The job of a Coastie is truly an admirable job.

Where Do We Serve?

WHERE DO WE SERVE?

We serve anywhere in the world where we are needed including the Caribbean, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. However, most Coast Guard jobs are located here in the United States and Puerto Rico. Reservists usually serve close to home; however, some do get deployed where needed, when necessary.

Basic Training

BASIC TRAINING

We're not going to sugarcoat this; basic training is tough. It's eight weeks of physical and mental challenges. We want to shape your child into a fully prepared Coast Guard man or women who can take charge and execute during the most harrowing situations.
