RESERVE OPPORTUNITIES

As a reservist, you might be assigned to any of our 17 ratings (or jobs). Your rating will be determined by our needs and your ability. Plus, reservists have one unique rating -- Investigator (provide support to Coast Guard law enforcement and intelligence missions).

As a member of the Reserve, you're expected to do your job well. However, go above and beyond what is expected of you, and not only will you be noticed, you may be rewarded with more responsibility and more money. Pass the appropriate tests and complete practical skill demonstrations and you will advance. You'll also get the chance to attend the advanced training courses.

Coast Guard Reservists receive the same pay that other military members receive with the same pay grade and status.

As with any military service, before you can do anything or go anywhere, you are going to have to go through Basic Training, which provides the basic skills you'll need to serve as a part-time member in the Coast Guard Reserve.

Besides the regular ratings, we offer one program that is unique to the Reserve - Investigator. Reservists in our Investigator rating provide support to Coast Guard law enforcement and intelligence missions. We also offer an array of Petty Officer and Direct Commission Officer programs.
