ADVANCEMENT

The Coast Guard is the smallest of all the military services. That means two things: every job you do is important and  everything you do gets noticed.

As a Reservist, you can continue to receive more training in your field by taking class 'C' courses, which can lead to more responsibility, advancement in rank, and greater pay.

Coast Guard class 'C' courses provide advanced training in your specialty, so you're better prepared to perform your specific job or duty. You'll have to compete with other Reservists and enlisted Guardians to get into certain courses.

However, some 'C' school courses are designated "Reserve Only." They are created specifically for Reservists who cannot attend longer courses because of their civilian job constraints.
