As a Coast Guard Reservist, you'll serve at a unit that has a need for your skill set and is located within reasonable commuting distance from your home.

Since Coast Guard missions cover a broad spectrum, Guardians must be prepared to serve in a variety of functions, despite their chosen specialty. Vessel boardings, rescues at sea, law-enforcement encounters and other Coast Guard missions are fulfilled by team members from a variety of ratings who have completed the specialty training to fulfill those exciting functions.
